Track of the Day: 'Atlas' by Bicep

Back with their first single since 2018, Bicep have released this powerful, brooding track which positively throbs with dark vibes. Calling to mind Four Tet, Aphex Twin and Underworld, it's sure to set dancefloors and gigs alight once we're all allowed to go back outside. Until then you'll just have to turn it up LOUD at home and dance on your own, isolation style.

'Atlas' will be released physically on Ninja Tune on April 2nd.

Track of the Day: 'Inner Systems' by Prequel Tapes

I'm a big fan of what Ninja Tune do (does?), but I'm sure that even they'd admit that the write-up to this track on Soundcloud is a huge steaming pile of pretentious nonsense. No matter though, because if you disregard that and just listen to the music you'll be amply rewarded. 8 minutes worth of electronic goodness await you as this Berlin-based artist conjures up dark digital sculptures which are tempered with bright piano acoustic interjections. It's a free download too, so grab it for yourself below and stick it on your headphones late at night.

Remix of the Day: 'Rainbow (Club)' by Romare

Out on Monday, this epic new version of one of the standout tracks on 'Projections' keeps the funky bassline but updates the 70s disco tribute to fit in today's clubs. I love the little snatches of piano at the start, the way the track builds with hints of vocals and then the bass kicks in to get you strutting across the floor. Take a listen below.

Remix of the Day: 'I Wanna Know (Seven Davis Jr Midnight Remix)' by Beat Spacek

First released in February, 'Modern Streets' by Beat Spacek has just received the 'deluxe' treatment and is now available with three extra remixes. This choice version of 'I Wanna Know' comes courtesy of Seven Davis Jr, who looks set to become one of 2015's stars himself. He sprinkles his dub-funky magic over the track to make it even more of a winner.

You can get the deluxe version in all the usual places, but the best is here at Ninja Tune.

Remix of the Day: 'The Sky Opposite (Tim Hecker Remix)' by Dorian Concept

This track will be out in April as part of an EP of remixes from Dorian Concept's 2014 album 'Joined Ends'. Also featured are mixes from Bibio, Nathan Fake and Kuedo which have not yet been forthcoming, but for now we have this ace slice of electronic textures from Tim Hecker. As the track progresses and the white noise subsides the melody gradually coalesces as if from nothing. Listen below, and you can order the EP in advance from Ninja Tune here.

Track of the Day: 'Do Me' by FaltyDL

The lead track from Drew Lustman's fourth album 'In The Wild', 'Do Me' mixes chiming keyboards and ticking rhythms (reminiscent of Gold Panda) with a repetitive, insistent vocal demanding that you 'Do me harm,  Do me Do me Do me Do me Do me Do me Do me harm'. It's absorbing and hypnotic and likely to be you earworm for the foreseeable future.

The new album will be out on 11th August on Ninja Tune, and features visual from British artist Chris Shen to accompany the tracks.

Remix of the Day: 'Jerk Ribs (Mount Kimbie Remix)' by Kelis

The new album by Kelis certainly has a lot of promise - recorded and produced by the legendary Dave Sitek, and being released on the equally-legendary Ninja Tune label, it's going to be her most honest record yet, and one which should hopefully re-establish her at the top of her game.

This new remix of lead track 'Jerk Ribs' is performed with aplomb by electronic duo Mount Kimbie, who put their own stamp on it without losing the warm feel of the original.

The album 'Food' is out on 21st March - you can pre-order it from Ninja Tune here.

Track of the Day: 'She Sleeps (Gang Gang Dance Remix) by FaltyDL

The original version of 'She Sleeps', featuring Ed Macfarlane from Friendly Fires on vocals, appears on FaltyDL's album 'Hardcourage' which is released on January 21st on Ninja Tune. It is also being released as a single in its own right on 11th February with the usual host of remixes - on this one Gang Gang Dance knock some of the sharper edges off the track and turn it into a slow-burning groover.
