Check out this extremely laid-back cover of the Yeezy classic from my boy Loyle Carner. He puts his own spin on the lyrics over a stripped-bare piano accompaniment and a well-sung chorus. The track was recorded for Radio 1's Piano Sessions in London yesterday.
If you want to check Loyle out live you can catch him at Village Underground in London on February 16th next year - get your tickers here.

Video of the Day: 'Running on a Rainy Day' by Paul White
Taken from 'Shaker Notes', one of my favourite albums of the year (see my review here), this gently haunting track has been given a suitably abstract video. Eschewing the obvious (there's no-one running and no rain), it was shot on one night in Bucharest, Romania and follows the working day of a local taxi driver and the fares he picks up from dusk to dawn.

Video of the Day: 'Ready Err Not' by Flying Lotus
I'm off to see the man FlyLo at London's Roundhouse in a couple of hours, so to celebrate here's the video for 'Ready Err Not' the appeared at the weekend. Be warned - it's not one for the squeamish!

Video of the Day: 'Faded' by Lizzo
The momentum behind Lizzo seems to be growing, and rightly so. She's an original and inspiring female voice in the male dominated world of hip-hop. With her debut album 'Lizzobangers' about to be re-released, her new single 'Faded' showcases her signature style to good effect - it's fast, furious and fun.
If you get a chance to catch a Lizzo show live then you really should - it's some of the most fun you can have with your clothes on (although I'm sure she wouldn't mind if you took some of them off). I'll be down the front for her show at Glasonbury this year so maybe I'll see you there!

Video of the Day: 'Heaven, How Long' by East India Youth
Regular readers will know of my love for East India Youth's album 'Total Strife Forever', which is one of my favourites of the year so far. This track is taken from it and has now got a great video directed by Joe Spray. It's good to see that this video came about through some funding by the PRS Foundation Momentum Fund, which supports the development of talented artists that are making music their main source of income.

Video of the Day: 'Palace' by The Antlers
Rejoice, my friends, rejoice, for a new album by The Antlers is nearly upon us.'Familiars' will be released on June 16th in the UK on Transgressive Records (17th on the US on Anti). The first track, called 'Palace', arrived to day and it's an absolutely beautiful piece of work. Possibly the saddest trumpet I've ever heard gives way to hauntingly gorgeous but fragile vocals, and instantly reminds me why I love The Antlers so much. If the whole album's as emotional as this I'll be in pieces on the floor once I've heard it.
You can pre-order the the album here (in the UK) or here (in the US).

Video of the Day: 'Waves' by Halls
To coincide with the release of his astonishingly good second album 'Love To Give' (review to follow later in the week), Halls has put out this video for one of the tracks from it, 'Waves'. Looking like a cross between an alien abduction and an episode of 'The Returned', it's black and white moods perfectly match the atmosphere of the album. If you like what you hear you can catch him live at The Shacklewell Arms next Monday.

Video of the Day: 'Once In Royal David's City' by Marijuana Deathsquads
There's not much I can say about this really, other than it's probably the most disconcerting thing you'll see over Christmas. Not for those of a nervous disposition. Enjoy!

Video of the Day: 'Paper Trails (RA session)' by Darkside
Recorded live at Resident Advisor's London HQ, this version of the track from the new Darkside album 'Psychic' is twice as long, and all the better for it. It's great to see Nicolas ad Dave in action, constructing and de-constructing the track, making the most of the Chris Isaak-esque vocals before stepping up the beat and matching it with some great guitar playing. It's definitely an after-dark track, one that works on loads of different levels.

Video of the Day: 'Why'd You Only Call Me When You're High?' by Arctic Monkeys
After going off the boil a bit on their last couple of albums (IMHO) the tracks that have come out so far from 'AM', their fifth release, seem to show that they've finally managed to find the right balance of swagger and wit. The video for the latest track starts with Alex Turner exercising his inner actor as he gets drunk while previous single 'Do I Wanna Know?' plays in the pub. The evening progresses and as the new song plays you get to see him stumble through a serious of drunken encounters and equally drunken texts.
Interesting fact: the last three Arctic Monkey singles to be released have been questions - 'R U Mine?', 'Do I Wanna Know?' and 'Why'd You Only Call Me When You're High?'. This must be some sort of record, surely?

Video of the Day: 'My Father in Hong Kong 1961' by Gold Panda
A nice, atmospheric video for one of the calmer and less dance-oriented tracks on Gold Panda's latest album 'Half Of Where You Live'. The album itself has strong themes of travel and worldwide locations, which are brought to the fore in this track.

Video of the Day: 'Reach for the Dead' by Boards of Canada
The first track to hit the airwaves from the forthcoming album 'Tomorrow's Harvest' (unless you count those 20-second bursts from the Record Store Day 12"s). It's a good track, but maybe not a great one. As usual it's difficult to understand a single song without hearing it in the context of the album - the new Primal Scream album is a good example of where the songs sound much better in the flow of the record than they might do individually. But hey, it's a new Boards of Canada track at the end of the day, which is something we weren't expecting at the start of the year, and it certainly whets the appetite to hear the rest of the record, which is out on June 10th.

Video of the Day: 'Swim and Sleep (Like A Shark)' by Unknown Mortal Orchestra
I've loved this track since it first came out towards the end of the year. Now it's got a great video to go with it that's got nothing to do with swimming or sharks, and everything to do with puppets, voyeurism, masturbation, sadness, cooking, therapy, art, graffiti and, ultimately, a happy ending. Enjoy!

Video of the Day: 'Hold My Hand' by UNKLE
A new video for this track from their last meeting, and one that's co-directed by main man James Lavelle himself. The video is a fly-on-the-wall look at cabaret performer Miss Crash, and although it's already had to be edited to allow it back up on Youtube it's still pretty much Not Safe For Work. Have a look and see what you think of it.

Video of the Day: 'Poetic Justice (feat. Drake) by Kendrick Lamar
Kendrick Lamar seems to be becoming a regular feature on this blog. After yesterday's new verses for Emeli Sande (see here) here's his new video for Poetic Justice, featuring Drake (but not featuring Janet Jackson, who apparently was asked to be in the video but declined).

Video of the Day: 'Sound and Vision' (David Bowie cover) by Beck
OK, so he made if for a car advert but still, respect to Beck for taking the corporate dollar and using it to make something creative, startling and brilliant. With his seemingly umlimited budget he recruited a 157-piece orchestra to dismantle, remodel and reassemble the Bowie classic into something slightly unhinged but ultimately beautiful. Almost makes you wish for a whole album of covers from him...

Video of the Day: 'Long Forgotten Boy' by Night Works
The final part in a quadrilogy of videos by Night Works and director Daniel Brereton, which brings together the storylines from the three tracks released so far - ' I Tried So Hard', 'The Eveningtime' and 'Modern European'. Who'd have thought that a man walking from Bethnal Green to Dagenham Docks via Beckton Alps could be so illuminating?
'Long Forgotten Boy' will be coming out next month on Loose Lips Records accompanied by an Erol Alkan rework.

Video of the Day: 'Fuck A Rap Song' by Blue Daisy presents Dahlia Black
Smoking hot new side project from Camden-based produced Blue Daisy. In this Dahlia Black guise he drops some heavy beats and sparse instrumentation over which he shares verses with Hey!Zeus. Darker than Tricky smoking weed in a back-alley at midnight, this a seriously immense track. You can buy it from iTunes now.

Video of the Day: 'Generations' by Chrome Canyon
Last year's Chrome Canyon album 'Elemental Themes' was one of my favourite albums of 2012 (see my review here). The record is so cinematic you can almost imagine the 80s movie it could have accompanied. Now one of the tracks has its own suitably cinematic video, featuring ballerina Amanda Wells, which adds to the album's mystique.

Video of the Day: 'Los Elefantes' by Haiku Salut
I've heard this played a lot on Gideon Coe's 6music show, so I tracked down the band's website where they've just posted this video. OK, so the first part of the track does sound a little bit like it will be soundtracking adverts for the next few years, but bear with it as there are some interesting blips and electronic bits going on as it progresses.
If you like the track you can download it for free below.
